Ms. Tufts is committed to providing customized solutions for each client by offering strategic legal counsel, helping align their goals with their legal strategy. With a background in business and chemistry, Ms. Tufts has developed a deep appreciation for intellectual property protection. Ms. Tufts leverages her business expertise to assist clients in aligning their business objectives with their legal strategies.
Prior to joining Sullivan & Carter, Ms. Tufts worked at a small IP boutique for six years. Throughout her career, Ms. Tufts collaborated with clients of all sizes across diverse range of industries, including but not limited to, pharmaceuticals, telecommunications, consumer goods, cannabis, dietary supplements, and food manufacturing. Ms. Tufts excels in providing strategic guidance on trademark clearance searches, trademark and copyright application filings, trademark and copyright prosecution, as well as IP and commercial litigation. Her practice also includes advising on IP portfolio management, and IP licensing agreements. Additionally, Ms. Tufts has expertise in drafting and negotiating intellectual property licensing agreements, Non-Disclosure Agreements, joint venture agreements, and other commercial transaction agreements.
Ms. Tufts received her J.D. and certificate in Intellectual Property from UIC John Marshall Law School, Chicago. As a law student, she was a staff editor for the law school's Review of Intellectual Property Law journal, and an active participant in the Trial Advocacy and Dispute Resolution Honors Council. She was also a Teaching Assistant for Contracts and Torts classes. During law school, Ms. Tufts was named in the "Who's Who Among Students" list for 2017. Upon graduation, Ms. Tufts was also an Adjunct Professor at UIC John Marshall Law School, where she taught a course on Torts to first semester law students. Prior to law school, Ms. Tufts earned her undergraduate degrees in Business and Chemistry from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
